In a year of intense lockdowns, homeschooling, distance learning, and heightened emotions towards unrest, anxiety, and the global health crisis, we all have been in forced isolation. In most cases, quarantine life brought a roller coaster of emotions - much grief to the ones who lost a loved one. We are not designed for isolation. And in our moment of separation, I believe we are at our most vulnerable spot.
I wrote this article not to give more airtime to the global pandemic. This article is not my opinion about the crisis but an actual story of hope, love, and genuine honour. Something I learned and experienced before the world shut down. This is an important story that I want to share. If it wasn't, I don't think I'll navigate a tough season well enough.
When I returned to South Africa in 2019, I am confronted with me not having a place to live, at least for a year. My previous landlord couldn't accommodate me already, so I ended up "homeless" for a moment. Over the years, living by faith has taught me that God is usually working behind the scenes when unfavourable situations like this happen. It is my responsibility to wait and be wise during the transition. In the first few weeks, I was very thankful that a good friend of mine allowed me to crash in his place temporarily until I could find my feet. During this period, I kept trusting God that He has gone ahead of me and that I know deep in my heart that He will open the right door. Indeed, the Harger household opened their home to me.

I met Jordan and Heather Harger back in 2018 while serving together at the Hillsong Africa Foundation. They are not your typical American missionary family. They are probably one of the coolest, craziest, and most authentic people you'll ever meet. They have an incredible story that will blow your mind. I wouldn't give justice by sharing it so you can watch it here. Or visit their site.
Allow me to honour this fantastic Family. From the bottom of my heart, I'll share the biggest lessons I learned from the Harger (Jordan, Heather, Esther, Silas, Phoebe, ans Asher) that will set me up for life. I pray that you will find this helpful and inspiring, no matter what season you find yourself in today.
